Memorandum of Understanding Signed to Create National Rail Academy for Qatar

In Berlin, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between Qatar Rail, the national railway development agency and DB International, the consulting arm of Deustche Bahn, to form a strategic alliance with Qatar University.

The MoU was signed between the three partners at the Business and Investment in Qatar Forum visited by delegations from industry and government in Berlin on April 15 and 16.

The plan is to establish a National Railway Academy, where key skilled staff would be trained to support the rail developments planned for Qatar over the coming years. Plans include establishment of a Professorship, to be set up with German assistance. HE Abdullah Abdul Aziz Abdullah Turki Al Subaie, Managing Director of Qatar Rail, said the project would see the establishment of a centre of excellence in the field of rail education in the region providing research facilities and training.

With German assistance, there would be a regular exchange of qualified students between Qatar and Germany.
