Riyadh Dry Port is Live with Latest Generation Terminal Operating System
Operator of Riyadh Dry Port, BAAS international Group (BIG), says Riyadh Dry Port has successfully gone live with the Navis SPARCS N4 Terminal Operating System (TOS). BIG is investing in technology to bring the Riyadh Rail Terminal up to a world class standard in port operations. It has also installed SAP enterprise application software in a unique technology transition project.
Sheikh Bader Al-Suweidan, President and CEO of BIG, said “The Navis SPARCS N4 TOS will help us increase productivity, reduce costs and better-serve customers in our highly competitive marketplace.”
Since it first operated in the early 1980s, Riyadh Dry Port operations have increased pace. The Port currently has capacity for 200,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers per year for transport via rail. With plans to continually expand capacity, selection of the latest generation terminal operating system should improve management of terminal processes, increase productivity and drive down rail and management yard expenses.
Navis is part of the Cargotec Corporation. It provides world-class solutions for tracking cargo, automating equipment operations, and centralised facilities for managing multiple terminals. Bill Walsh, president and CEO of Navis says “SPARCS N4 has evolved from a ‘nice to have’ technology platform, to one that is essential in this highly competitive marketplace.”
