Etihad Rail Take Themselves Out Of The Board Room

Members of the Board and Senior Management Team of Etihad Rail, UAE’s National Railway Network operator and developer, took themselves out of the Board Room and off to visit a sleeper factory at Mirza on 10th March, according to WAM the Emirates News Agency. The visit was part of the Board’s ongoing efforts to hear from teams on the ground and witness developments first hand, said Nasser Alsowaidi, Chairman of Etihad Rail.

Alsowaidi said the team at Etihad Rail appreciated the support of the government in the development of the huge national railway project. When completed, the 1,200 km network will extend across the Emirates, providing transport for passengers and freight. Phase One of the project is on track for completion in 2013.

During the visit, members of the Board and Senior Management Team viewed facilities and production lines and inspected rolling stock. They also visited an experimental sand mitigation site, where the behaviour of wind-blown sand can be studied. This provides vital understanding in managing construction projects in the region.

Part of the visiting team also included Mattar Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Board, Dr. Nasser Saif Al-Mansoori, Etihad Rail CEO and a number of board members.
