Spanish Rail Trade Delegation Visits Gulf
A trade delegation of Spanish businessmen from the railway sector has just completed a visit to Gulf countries, organised by the Spanish Railway Association (MAFEX) and the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX).
The aim was to foster international collaboration and express Spanish interest in the range of new infrastructure projects in the Gulf Region. Spain has a range of expertise in delivering rail projects and services.
The trade delegation took part in meetings with various representatives of the rail industry in the Gulf, including companies and municipal representatives. Meetings included Road Transport Authority of Dubai, Etihad Railways, and Abu Dhabi Municipality, Saudi Binladin Group, state-owned companies Saudi Railway Organization (SRO) and Saudi Railway Company (SAR), and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. In Qatar, they met with agents of the rail operator Qatar Railways Company and the institution Qatar Foundation, as well as delegates from several private companies.
The delegation visited the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam in Saudi Arabia and Doha in Qatar.
MAFEX has 76 members representing 85% of the Spanish Rail industry, and works to promote exports through trade delegations, international trade fairs and market analyses.
