UK’s Network Rail Forms International Consulting Arm
Britain’s rail network owner and operator, Network Rail, has launched a new international rail consultancy with a view to sharing its experience, knowledge and expertise internationally.
Network Rail Consultancy will bring its depth and breadth of expertise and knowledge of running one of the most heavily used rail networks in the world, on largely Victorian infrastructure, to projects in Brazil, northern Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and Australia. Services including advisory, strategic planning, asset management, operations and maintenance will be available, with the aim of driving efficiencies and delivering solutions that deliver outstanding value, responsibly.
Network Rail has created a devolved group structure with the aim of promoting British excellence overseas and becoming an international ambassador for Britain and UK plc. The group has valuable experience in managing complex capital projects such as Thameslink and the redevelopment of King’s Cross in London.
The group has formed strategic alliances with companies such as Atkins and CH2M HILL to pursue projects in countries with large, aging rail infrastructure in need of modernisation, which forms the backbone of Network Rail’s experience base.
The aim is to channel enhanced experience and knowledge back into the UK, providing an enhanced service for British rail services.
