RTA Delegation Visits International Public Transport Congress in Geneva

A delegation of representatives of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is visiting the 60th International Association of Public Transport (UITP) Congress and Exhibition, currently being held in Geneva, Switzerland. The exhibition, which runs until Wednesday 29th of May, is expected to attract visitors from 95 countries and provide an international meeting point, showcasing the latest technologies in design and construction of infrastructure, tunnel networks, and supporting systems.

A large stand at the exhibition is dedicated to spotlighting the exciting developments in public transport systems in Dubai. H E Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, and representatives of other public transport agencies from the Emirate, toured exhibition stands dedicated to the latest technologies in road, rail and traffic management.

Al Tayer, commented that the RTA’s experience in hosting the conference in 2011, had led to an agreement to hold a biennial Congress and Exhibition celebrating public transport in Dubai beginning in 2014. It will showcase the vital projects being undertaken with relation to public transport integration.

He then joined with HE Alain Flausch, UI TP Secretary-General, to launch the Youth for Public Transport Foundation (Y4PT), sponsored by the RTA, which will appoint ambassadors on a non-profit basis to diffuse the culture of using public transport systems.
